Celesta Hughes
Guitar, lead and harmony vocals.
Celesta is known around the North Texas bluegrass music scene for her wonderful voice. Celesta grew up playing and singing in her family band, "The Mitchell Family”, which performed at many bluegrass festivals across Texas and the bordering states as well as playing at the Family Festival which was held in Perrin, Texas. Celesta teaches guitar lessons and is active in Bible Study Fellowship as a children’s leader. Also, Celesta is a member of the Praise Team at her local church.
Jim Hughes
Mandolin, lead and harmony vocals.
Jim plays many stringed instruments including guitar, banjo, mandolin, and bass. Jim grew up playing and singing southern gospel music. After attending a bluegrass festival in Hugo, OK at age 18, he discovered his love of bluegrass music, especially Bluegrass Gospel. He writes gospel songs and has a great knack for harmony singing. Jim is a deacon in his local church and is on the Praise Team.
Tommy Smith
Bass, lead and harmony vocals.
The newest member to Copper Canyon, Tommy was an all-state choir member in high school and formally with the Harmony Quartet. Tommy is an active member of the Northview Baptist Church in Lewisville, TX.
Joe Hood
Banjo
Joe is a well known banjo player in Texas. He has played in several bands throughout the years. He spent 7 years with “Grounds for Divorce”, and many years with “The Lambert Brothers" and "The Tri-County Boys”. He is a stylist on the 5-string banjo. Joe is a very versatile musician as he can play just about anything with strings on it. Joe is retired from Central Freight. Joe and Joyce, his wife, are active in the music ministry of their local church.
